Thyme Rubbed Steaks With Sauteed Mushrooms

2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 pound New York strip steaks, cut 3/4 inch thick
1 (8 ounce) package sliced fresh mushrooms
1/4 cup minced shallot
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons red wine
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
salt and pepper to taste


Mix thyme, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, salt and
paprika in small bowl. Sprinkle on each side of steaks; press in to
adhere. Put aside.

Melt butter in skillet on medium-high heat. Add shallots; mix and
cook for a minute. Add mushrooms; cook for several minutes till
tender. Mix red wine in; cook till most of liquid evaporates. Take
off heat; keep warm.

Heat oil in another skillet on medium-high heat then fry steaks to
desired degree of doneness or for 5-7 minutes per side. Put on
plate; rest for several minutes. Put mushrooms on top; serve.
